I wish I could say that this video was completely from left field. Unfortunately this is pretty much everyday (or at least it feels like everyday). I think the robot voices really make the absurdity stand out.
The really sad thing is that there are photographers out there that take these kinds of assignments. Just say no! I know you think, “It’s work. I’m not doing anything else. It will be good experience.” You’re not only hurting yourself but the profession as a whole. What really sucks is in a year or two that client will come back when you do have “experience”. When you know not to accept that job. But now there’s now way they’re paying more. Think about this. What if you had taken the time to educate the client in the first place and turned down that crappy job. When the job turned out horrible and they had to reshoot now they know what you’re worth. Don’t sell yourself short. Be like robot Johnny.
I found this little nugget at a new blog I’m follow by a photography marketing guru. Great blog. Worth a follow.
